Justice & Reconciliation

Racism is real. Racism is unjust. Racism is sin. There is no place for racism in God’s family.
(Matthew 22:38, Romans 13:8, James 2:8-9)

The leadership of Gateway Christian Church stands with Scripture, and thus the heart of the Lord Jesus, in condemning racism in all its ugly forms. As Christ followers, we must see and treat all human beings as a precious creation of God, formed in His image, worthy of dignity and deserving of our respect. If we are silent on this issue, it is hurtful to those who need our voices and support.

We are called to help those hurt by racial injustice. Therefore, we will pray, serve, speak and act to promote racial reconciliation. We will strive to understand the history and prevalence of racism in this country. We will listen to the experiences of those who are affected. We will seek opportunities to create unity in our church, communities, country and the world.

The Lord our God calls us to turn away from evil and do good, to seek peace and pursue it. We ask you to unite with us under Christ as real and visible representatives of Jesus in the world by speaking out with truth, boldness, humility and, most of all, love.
(1 Peter 3:11, Galatians 3:26-29)
